Ah yes, the legendary “five dollar cup of coffee”. It doesn’t exist, not if you’re talking about plain old drip coffee.
A cup of regular coffee will cost you between a buck fifty and two bucks. That’s no five dollars, but it’s still more expensive than your average gas station or convenience store. What do you get for that extra money?
First of all, you know exactly what kind of beans you’re getting. These days Starbuckses all brew the Pike Place blend, with some stores offering other options during busy hours. This may matter to you, or it may not.
Secondly, you know the coffee you get is an hour old or less. Coffee is thrown out an hour after it’s brewed, instead of sitting on a burner all day. So you don’t get that nasty leftover flavor.
